Direct assistance with basic needs

Families and individuals can only focus on long term goals when their immediate food, safe shelter, and medical needs are being met. Through collaborations with other human service agencies, faith communities, and individual donors Center For Siouxland connects people with the resources they need.

Assessment and Referral -- Our community assistance specialists help families assess their immediate challenges and their eligibility for services from Center For Siouxland and all other community resources. We help to develop a plan to resolve their situation with follow-up services and referrals.

Food -- We operate a food pantry on-site four afternoons a week: 1:30 to 3:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays,Wednesdays, and Thursdays; plus Tuesday mornings from 10 AM to noon. We also partner with the Food Bank of Siouxland and congregations/service groups to provide mobile pantry food distributions throughout our service area.

Utility Assistance -- We provide some financial assistance to prevent disconnection of utility services when funds are available from government or private sources. We keep a current list of all available resources for this in the community and make referrals to programs for which people seeking help are eligible.

Prescription Assistance -- As donations allow, we provide financial assistance so that people without resources can obtain prescribed medications to manage their health.
