Center For Siouxland Annual Meeting Highlights

April 10, 2006

Center For Siouxland hosted its Annual Meeting on March 7, 2006 at the Sioux City Convention Center.  Over 100 people were in attendance to support programs offered by the agency and recognize donors and volunteers.

The meeting highlighted Emergency Services programs provided by Center For Siouxland.  The speaker for the event was Michael Stoops, Acting Executive Director for the National Coalition for the Homeless.  Mr. Stoops gave an inspiring presentation about the plight of homeless citizens in the United States, what is being done to help them, and what still remains to be done.

Dorothy Kaiser was recognized with the “From the Heart” award.  For 25 years Dorothy has repaired dolls and toys and donated them to Center For Siouxland to be given to children who accompany their parents to the agency to receive services.  The “Group Project Award” was presented to Scott and Angela Miller of Elks Lodge #112.  Every year the Elks adopt 80 Center For Siouxland clients and provide them with Christmas food baskets.

Board Chair, Russ Wermers, commented, “Center For Siouxland had a great 2005 and we appreciate all of those who support us.  We really couldn’t do it without you.”
