Center For Siouxland will Close Family Shelter

June 30, 2008

Center For Siouxland will close its Family Shelter effective June 30. Center For Siouxland has operated a Family Shelter for the past 20 years in various locations. The rooms are currently located at 923 Douglas St. and have capacity to accommodate six individuals. Homeless individuals can still receive shelter services at the Gospel Mission.

While the Family Shelter will close, Center For Siouxland will continue to serve the homeless population in a different capacity with the Bridges West Transitional Housing program which has 22 units to house homeless individuals and families pending approval of their application. People may reside at Bridges West for up to two years while receiving supportive services and participating in a case management program designed to help them achieve self sufficiency.

Center For Siouxland continues to provide an array of other vital services to the community including: utility assistance, prescription assistance, food pantry, 2-1-1 Center, Consumer Credit Counseling, Representative Payee, Senior Companion and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. To receive more information about the programs offered at Center For Siouxland call 712-252-1861.
