Center For Siouxland Will Do Tax AssessmentJanuary 29, 2006Center For Siouxland will be an AARP Tax Site, providing FREE income tax filing assistance to low- and moderate- income taxpayers. This service is being coordinated by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) which is a program of Center For Siouxland. Income tax returns can be filed electronically. Call (712)252-1861 Extension 21, to make an appointment. Appointments will begin February 6.
To have taxes assessed for free, the following information will be required: Personal information is required for filers and their dependents, including a valid picture ID, Social Security card or individual Tax Identification Number and birth dates for taxpayer, spouse and dependents. Income information required includes all W-2 forms received from all employers for 2005, all 1099 forms for savings account interest or dividends, all 1099 forms for all Social Security or other retirement income, all 1099 forms for unemployment payments received, records for any business income and expenses which must be under $5,000 and records for any other income received such as scholarships, advanced earned income or jury duty. The following child and dependent care information will be required: Name, address and Social Security number or EIN number of the care provider and the amount paid for each dependent to each provider. Previous tax returns should be kept no fewer than three years and it is important to bring last year’s tax return for the tax assessment. The amount of refund received from the previous year and any state refund are needed in filing tax returns. This service is in accordance with guidelines established by the Internal Revenue Service and returns can be filed electronically.
