Dollar General Stores Collect Food

The eight local Dollar General Stores are partnering with Center For Siouxland to collect items to stock the pantry and fight hunger in Siouxland.  The food collection will take place through March 15, 2010. Dollar General Stores participating include all Sioux City and South Sioux locations. 

Dollar General Stores also collected over 2,500 items for the pantry during the holidays.  Board Chairperson, John Wagner, states, “It is only because of partnerships like the one with Dollar General Stores that we are able to serve the hungry in our community.” During 2009 over 3,000 individuals received assistance from Center For Siouxland’s pantry.

Center For Siouxland, a local non-profit, has provided services in the community for the past 35 years.  The agency provides an array of programs including, Consumer Credit Counseling, Housing Counseling, Client Trust, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, 2-1-1 Center, Bridges West Transitional Housing for the homeless, prescription and utility assistance.  For more information on the programs offered call 712-252-1861 or check out the website at www. centerforsiouxland.org.
