Donors to the Center For Siouxland Pantry Will be Honored

October 22, 2009

According to Feeding America, “One in eight Americans does not have access to enough food.” Local food pantries help meet that need and are reliant on donations.  Donors to the Center For Siouxland pantry will be honored at a recognition event on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 8:30 a.m. at Morningside Lutheran Church.

A continental breakfast and certificates will be provided to those
in attendance.  Jan Klimiades, President and CEO of Center For Siouxland states, “Food is a basic necessity and because of the generosity of the many businesses, churches, schools, and individuals in our community who conduct canned food drives to keep our pantry stocked we are able to help combat hunger in Siouxland.  We conduct this event to recognize and thank them.”

To get more information on how you can conduct a food drive or join Center For Siouxland’s Hunger Heroes committee call 712-252-1861 ext. 41.  The agency is located at 715 Douglas St. and provides a host of services including Consumer Credit Counseling, 2-1-1 information and referral help line, Bridges West transitional housing for the homeless, Client Trust, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, prescription and utility assistance.
