Hispanic Horizons UpdateJanuary 10, 2006![]() ![]() The tables were decorated with beautiful Guatemalan center pieces and Mexican art work lined the wall. A string trio’s Mexican Rancheras filled the room. The smell of delicious enchiladas, tacos, and other traditional Mexican fare tempted the palates of over 200 participants at the first Hispanic Horizons Event, La Casa Latina fundraiser, held at El Ranchito Restaurant in South Sioux City. This successful event was supported by many different sponsors, the Presenting Sponsor Wells Fargo Bank, three Event Sponsors American Family Insurance, U.S. Bank, and KTIV News Channel 4, four Corporate Sponsors and eleven table sponsors. All our sponsors deserve a big round of applause. Also, a big thank you to all the Center For Siouxland employees and volunteers, this couldn’t have happened without your help. Richard Aguilar, CEO of Aguilar Productions, presented startling statistics concerning the Hispanic Market and illustrated how various successful companies are targeting the Hispanic Market through different advertising media. He also went over 7 do’s and don’ts when marketing to the Hispanic population. The surveyed crowd replies were very positive and they left wanting even more. Over $17,000 dollars was raised to support La Casa Latina’s (a department of Center For Siouxland) programs and services. La Casa Latina provides varied education programs such as Madres Y Niños (Mothers and Children), English as a second language and GED classes. Some of the services they provide are interpretation/translations, BIA accredited immigration work and advocacy. |
