Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Recognition Event
October 16, 2009
More than 150 Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
members choose to donate their time in our community to help make a
difference. They will be recognized for their contribution to
Siouxland at a recognition event being held Friday, Oct. 16
at noon at the Marina Inn Conference Center.
October is National RSVP month. RSVP is a federally
funded non-profit program, sponsored by Center For Siouxland
for the past 27 years. RSVP encourages citizens 55 years of age
and older to utilize their experiences, skills, passions and talents to address identified community needs by volunteering. There are currently 15 different volunteer opportunities available in the area including Meals on Wheels, Seniors Against Investment Fraud, Sioux City Community Schools, and many more.
RSVP works to assure volunteer members are satisfied with their position, making optimal use of their time. Today’s volunteers have busy schedules and want to
make sure their time is well spent. As we celebrate National RSVP month,
please thank those who are finding the time in their busy lives to connect to children,
peers, older adults and non-profit organizations through the RSVP program.
