Money Management Education & WorkshopsCenter For Consumer Credit Counseling offers many financial literacy workshops, and we can develop a financial workshop based on needs.
Credit When Credit is Due
This workshop is based on the book Credit When Credit is Due by Paul Strassels. Credit When Credit is Due is a nationally recognized program. The course is approximately 3 hours in length. Once finished, you are a graduate of a financial literacy program. When you have completed the quizzes in the back of the book, you send your answer sheet to Center For Consumer Credit Counseling. We score it for you, and if you pass we will forward your information to The American Center for Credit Education and they will send you cards allowing your completion of the courses to be placed on your credit report. You will need to send these cards to the three credit reporting agencies for inclusion on your credit report. Topics include:
First Time Homebuyers
The First Time Homebuyers class prepares first time homebuyers for the process of buying a home and to avoid possible pit-falls. We utilize the guide Homebuyer Education and Learning Program, created by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The class is taught by a certified housing counselor. Topics include:
The following workshops are offered to area businesses for their employees.Successful Budgeting and Managing Your Credit This workshop is designed for individuals and couples who have had a sudden change in their income. This workshop covers topics such as: shopping for credit, what to do if you cannot pay your bills, budgeting, and credit reports.
Successful Budgeting and Managing you Credit - High School Version This workshop includes the basics of budgeting, credit, managing debt, and credit reports. This workshop also includes activities designed for High School students to help them understand the importance and dangers of credit and budgeting.
Predatory Lending This workshop outlines predatory lending practices and how to not fall prey to predatory lenders. Topics covered include: consolidation loans, mortgage loans, rent to own services, pay day loans, credit cards, and title loans.
