Case Manager:

Center For Siouxland’s Case Manager is a full-time professional, direct service position responsible for providing case management and advocacy working with program participants who have a mental and/or physical disability and are participants in the Representative Payee Program. This position is responsible for engagement, assessment, intervention, and coordination of services to ensure participants’ housing, income, health, and basic needs are met.

Position Responsibilities

  • Serves as a liaison to Social Security Administration to monitor and maintain clients’ eligibility for benefits
  • Maintains responsibility for developing and establishing an initial budget for clients (payees) and revises the budget as situations and needs change.
  • Plans for, and distributes client money on a regular schedule, and pays client bills on a timely basis
  • Accurately assesses bills and requests funds based on an individual’s current financial status
  • Confers and negotiates with landlords, utility companies, and businesses on behalf of the client regarding payment of bills
  • Coordinates with clients’ mental health providers to develop information and documentation regarding changes in clients’ situations that may impact eligibility
  • Develops expertise in Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability Income eligibility and other related benefits (Medicaid, Medicare, Dept. of Human Services, Section 8, etc.)
  • Keeps abreast of current trends and “best practices” in the field. Attends and participates in required trainings on topics relevant to the job and to behavioral healthcare
  • Maintains a rigorous organizational system to track all reporting activities and outstanding issues
  • Frequently completes time-sensitive reports required to maintain eligibility for programs
  • Maintains the highest level of integrity and professionalism in all aspects of job performance
  • Provides crisis intervention for clients when necessary
  • Works as part of a team to provide a continuum of quality services

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in social work, human services, or related field
  • Experience:
    • Professional experience in one or more of the following: nonprofit, social work, human services, budgeting, social security
  • Skills:
    • Highly organized with excellent time management skills, including the ability to juggle multiple projects and set priorities to meet deadlines
    • Ability to work independently and solve problems
    • Experience working with diverse populations
    • Computer literate and working knowledge of Microsoft products and the ability to learn specialized databases and software systems.
    • Must be a team player, willing to assist at all levels of the organization
  • Job Type:
    • Full-time – Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Salary:
    • Starting at $33,000/year depending on experience

Credit Counselor:

If you answered YES to these questions, then we have just the position for you! We have an opening for a Credit Counselor. In this position the Credit Counselor must have good interpersonal skills, possess a working knowledge of finances/credit, be an effective problem-solver and be able to convey suggestions/ideas in a constructive, nonjudgmental manner. In this role, the counselor will work one-on-one with clients assessing their financial situation and developing action plans.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develops, assesses, and reviews one-on-one client’s financial analysis, including income, debt, credit history, and income stability, to collaboratively create spending plans and housing and/or financial goals and action plans specific to each client’s unique circumstances
  • Conducts one-on-one financial counseling sessions to empower individuals to manage their income and experience financial independence
  • Counsels and provides educational materials to clients regarding budgeting, credit, and money management
  • Builds rapport with clients to cultivate trust and engagement in counseling sessions
  • Explains credit report ratings and protection laws to clients and provides answers to clients’ questions
  • Develops and provides off-site education for community organizations.
  • Participates in networking groups with other service providers to learn community resources and promote program referrals
  • Attends necessary trainings and workshops to improve knowledge base

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in social work, business, finance, or related field; OR 2 years relevant experience
  • Experience:
    • Professional experience in one or more of the following: nonprofit, banking, social work, homeownership education, credit counseling
  • Skills:
    • Working with diverse populations
    • Ability to work on projects independently with strong personal organization
    • Effectively interact with co-workers, clients, creditors, board members, and community members
    • Be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure work environment
    • Ethics and confidentiality standards
    • Navigating community resources
    • Basic proficiency with a calculator, keyboard, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Building and maintaining positive relationships
    • Written, oral, and technological communication
    • Exhibiting professional conduct, appearance, and attitude
  • Job Type:
    • Full-time – Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
